Dr Jan Scharfenberg, LL.M. (Stellenbosch), has been Director of Information Security since 2024, Partner since 2025 and Managing Director of ISiCO GmbH since 2026. He has extensive expertise in information security law. His areas of focus include supporting the establishment of information security management systems (ISMS), particularly in the context of compliance with relevant regulations such as DORA, NIS2, the German Federal Office for Information Security Act (BSIG), the German Critical Infrastructure Ordinance (KRITIS-VO) and the Cyber Resilience Act.
In addition, Dr Scharfenberg and his team support ISMS certification projects in line with established industry standards such as ISO 27001, BSI IT-Grundschutz, C5, TISAX and B3S, and conduct audits and maturity assessments regarding the level of information security within companies.
With a strong understanding of risk management, platform regulation and the specific requirements of various industries such as health, energy, automotive, banking and finance, Dr Scharfenberg provides tailored solutions for our clients.
Dr Scharfenberg is an admitted German lawyer. He worked for more than 13 years as a lawyer at an international major law firm. He then headed the legal and compliance department of an IT start-up belonging to an international insurance group for four years.
